Huntersville Growers' Market

Every Saturday morning from May through August, Huntersville's weekly farmers market takes over Veterans Park in downtown Huntersville with pop-up tents, folding tables, and the smell of freshly-prepared food. It's easy to assume 'growers' market' means it's all produce, but here vegetables and eggs sit a few tents down from beef tallow skincare, handmade soap, and fresh French pastries. The name reflects how broadly the market defines a producer: bakers, soap makers, and foragers qualify alongside farmers, as long as they're selling what they made or grew themselves. 

This weekly event over the summer is a place to catch up with neighbors, support local businesses, and start off your weekend.

A Little History

The Huntersville Growers’ Market began in 1999 with the goals of providing locally grown food products, sustaining farmers in Huntersville and surrounding areas, and strengthening the community. It is organized and run by the Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department. 

While it has grown over the years, the Growers’ Market remains a place for locally grown and locally-produced goods. Vendors have to grow, raise, catch, or make what they're selling themselves (or be a family member or employee of the person who did), and everyone has to live and produce within 50 miles of the market.

The location of the market has changed over the years, and you can still find outdated addresses online. In 2026, the Huntersville Growers’ Market is held in Veterans Park.

A variety of vendors come to the Huntersville Growers' Market and the list of vendors varies each week. When they apply, vendors select if they want to attend for the full season (every week) or partial season (9 market days of their choice).

In addition to the vendors, Chef Matt cooks up free samples and provides a recipe of the week. Live music plays from the stage. It is a lowkey, social atmosphere.

Timing Your Visit 

The Growers’ Market is open from 8 am until noon weekly. 

Depending on what you are looking for, there is a good reason to arrive early. Most vendors have limited quantities and popular items can sell out before closing. Although each vendor has their own tent and the tree canopy that runs around the edge of the park provides some shade, the center of the park is open and can get warm.

Parking is readily available, so timing doesn’t matter as much for getting a close spot.

The market runs rain or shine, although Huntersville Parks & Recreation will cancel the market for hazardous weather. Check the market's Facebook or Instagram page on stormy Saturdays before heading out.

Family Friendly Event

The Huntersville Parks & Recreation team has done a good job to make this event family friendly. The center lawn space has kid-friendly toys for younger children to play and build with while parents chat. The welcome tent has arts and craft projects, like coloring pages or books, and helpful volunteers.

Dogs (on leash) are welcome at the Huntersville Growers’ Market as well.

SNAP/EBT and Market Programs

The Huntersville Growers' Market accepts SNAP. EBT card holders can visit the market manager's tent to convert their benefits into tokens, which work like cash with any vendor selling SNAP-eligible items (produce, dairy, eggs, meat, bread, and baked goods). The market also participates in a SNAP Double Bucks program that stretches those benefits further, and Mecklenburg County Public Health offers free microtransit rides to the market for SNAP recipients through the CATS Pass app.

Insider Tips

The vibes for the Huntersville Growers' Market are really different this year in a really good way. If you attended last year or the previous one but haven’t been in a while, it is worth checking out.

The staff who manage this event (Charlie Firth in particular) care a lot. If you have a question, ask. If you like the event, please let them know.

Regulars can also pick up a punch card at the market manager's tent — one punch per visit, and nine visits in a season earns $5 off a market purchase. Limit one per household.

Full restrooms (not just portable toilets) that are part of Veterans Park makes for a nicer market experience.

If you're used to the Davidson Farmers Market, the Huntersville Growers' Market is smaller, less crowded, with a more low-key, distinctly Huntersville feel.

Also, it's worth noting that Bradford Market, despite the similar name, is a year-round store rather than an outdoor vendor market. A neat place to visit and a different kind of stop entirely. 

The Growers’ Market is an easy walk to Coffee Republic (opens 6 am on Saturdays), The Neighborhood Cafe (opens 7 am on Saturdays), Discovery Place Kids (opens 9:30 am on Saturdays), Slice House Pizza (opens at 11 am Saturdays), and 760 Craft Works (opens noon on Saturdays), if you want to plan something around your visit.
